Sorry for the long post!!

So my baby turned a year old on Thursday! It was really exciting but it was also kinda sad. I can't believe he is a year old already. I can't believe how fast it went by. It was an eventful day. We were planning to have a party with both mine and Tyler's family, but I got a call that morning that my mom was in the hospital. She had a super bad case of vertigo and ended up being admitted stayed there overnight. Carson and I spent a few hours up at the hospital while my mom was doped up on whatever it was that they gave her and he was sooo good. So instead of having a big party, we went over to Tyler's parents house and just had a little one with their family. Allyson was so awesome and she made Carson a cake for me cuz I ended up being a little more busy that day then I had planned.So then on Sunday we did a party at my parents house with my side of the family. I don't have pictures from that yet but as soon as I do I will post them.

On Friday I took Carson in and had his one year check up. He is 29 inches tall and 21 lbs. He is in the 20th percentile on his height, the 40th percentile on his weight, and the 60th percentile on his head. haha. I guess that we don't have any choice except for him to take after the Richins. :D. Oh well. He is still just so stinking cute, I just love this kid. He is getting so big. He says mama and dada and he will say "Hey!!" to you when you walk into a room. He loves doing what an indian does (you know, the old "patting your mouth while saying ahhhh" trick). But he still won't walk. He can, he has great balance and if you can by some miracle get him to stand, he squats and lowers himself slowly to the ground, but he is such a scaredy cat! Oh well, he will figure it out eventually. Anywho, I hope all is well with all. Again, sorry for such a long post. Merry Christmas!!!

Black Friday

I'm not sure exactly what it is that draws me to Wal-mart at 4:30 in the morning the day after Thanksgiving, but whatever it is it's working. Not only that but it has worked every Black Friday for the last 6 or so years. Now you may think that I am insane for doing this, and I would have to agree with you, but still I go back. I was completely finished with my Christmas shopping by 8:00 am. It was awesome. When we got to Walmart they had the doors open and we thought, oh sweet, we can just get our shiz and leave. But no. No one is allowed to touch their item until 5:00 sharp, so instead everyone just hovers next to the item they want and wait until someone comes over the intercom to let us know we can start grabbing. It. Was. Awesome. :D. I got everything I went for and it was a blast. For anyone who has never ventured out to experience this, I recommend that you try it at least once. So now it is on to decorating my house! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving and good luck with Christmas!! Happy Holidays!!!

Some Happy Halloween Pics

Sorry this is pretty late. Things have been kinda crazy around the Richins household! Anyway, on Halloween my sisters Jo and Ruth and then two of my friends Heather and Lindsay and I went out to lunch at Applebees to get the day started. (Technically Ruth didn't make it to lunch and met us there at the end...). Then Ruth and I went over to Trick-or-Treat street in Idaho Falls. I'm not too sure how I feel about it and don't know if I will go back next year. It took us a little over an hour and a half to get through and they mostly got taffy and tootsie rolls. Oh well. So Carson went as a lion, Taylie-Ruth's little lamb, went as a 50's girl and Keilah-Jo's baby, went as a nun. Jo and I colaberated on her costume and I think it turned out great.

Here's Ruth being a champ. She is going in to have her baby on the 18th of this month and made it through this entire thing!

Halloween!!... costume

So this year I decided to be ambitious and make Carson's halloween costume myself. I went and selected a pattern and anxiously got started. Little did I know how much of a pain in the but it would turn out to be. Luckily I withstood the temptation to quit and buy one that is already made and finished it. It took me 4 grueling days to get it done but I wouldn't wish it any other way. Plus since I put so much work into it Carson is going to have to wear it at least once a week and he will probably also be a lion next year (don't worry I tried it on my niece Keilah who is 2 and it fit her just fine) unless I feel like being ambitious again... we'll see :D

So some day I am going to have a super cute little girl that I can dress up and do her hair and all that fun girly stuff. But right now I have a very tolerant little boy whom I love that is young enough to not mind my dressing him up (don't worry, I keep it very manly :D). I just thought that he looked super cute today with his mechanics shirt and faux hawk...

In the Movies?

Ok, so you know how on movies and commercials and stuff they always show people running on the treadmill and then they go flying off of the back? Well last night my mom and I went to Anytime Fitness to work out. I hopped on the treadmill as usual and I was about 25 minutes through and I had my eyes closed cuz I was tired and my legs hurt so I was concentrating on my music. Next thing I know I am flying backwards on the treadmill and I hit my butt on the ground behind! I open my eyes only to see my ipod come flying at me from the force of my fall. I then start laughing hysterically, cuz seriously it was funny, and I look around to see if anyone saw me. There were two people right next to me, one on the treadmill and one on the eliptical behind and neither of them were looking at me or laughing!! Now I don't know about you, but I know that if I saw someone go flying off the back of a treadmill, I would be laughing. So I just hop up off my butt real quick and get back on the treadmill as if nothing happened and finish out my 30 minutes. It was fabulous! Anyway, now I have a big ol' bruise on my butt and I'm pretty sure that the guy that owns the place watches the night video and is going to see it! haha! But anyway, I just thought that it would be a funny story to share and maybe give someone a good laugh! I will try to keep this thing better updated for you all. Bye now!

Labor Day/ Football

Ok so I am way behind!! Sorry kids. Well tonz of stuff has been going on... We went up to the teton's over labor day for some good ol'fashioned campin. We went up on that Saturday and we were supposed to stay until Monday but it ended up raining almost the entire time we were there and we ended up coming home Sunday night. I didn't get any pictures but Tyler's mom got some good ones of Carson eating his first piece of licorice...

He loved it and cried so hard when it was gone, poor little lamb. So some new developments, Carson got a second bottom tooth and his top teeth should be coming in any time now, his gums are soooo swollen. Also he has an official first word... He says Mama!!!! I have only been working with him on this word for about 9 months so I was super excited when he finally said it the day before yesterday. He already says mmmmm whenever he has a bite of anything, and I think that that counts as a word, but apparently I'm the only one! He has also learned to dance and it is so funny. I will get it on video (thanks to Aubrey for the video camera!) and post it soon.

Another important thing that has happened is that Shelley Football season has officially begun!! Finally! In preporation I made Carson a Russets jersey that is super cute and I really feel like I outdid myself with this one. It makes his baseball uniform look like crap, but that's just fine.
